Frame Story

Statement:
Frame Story builds on the literary device of the same name, using multiple perspectives to tell a visual story. Unlike the linear narrative structure of beginning/middle/end, the frame story uses multiple narrators, time periods, and/or styles to create stories within a story. In this exhibition, frame narrative is used to explore the idea of framing itself and all its implications. Using fine art and handicraft styles, I combine literal and abstract representations of the frame, and create fragmented and varied visual works of fiction that ask the viewer to find the common thread.
